What is the best way to look after a infected navel piercing?
so...here's the truth i got by belly button pierced 6 months ago and to be truthful i changed it early because the other belly bar made my stomach red so i changed it too a gold one i did not like it so i changed back to the first one i had and ever since i have had a big red patch from the top of my piercing to the bottom it keeps forming crusts and makes a lot of puss the crusts come off and i'm scared that it will scar ! iv changed back to my gold one again now and nothings happening i have also got red spots in my belly button but i don't no if this is from bathing it in salt water so can anyone help because i'm going on holiday in 2 weeks and i would like it to heal by then so can anyone help me please i'm desperate 
Your piercing doesn't sound infected. It sounds annoyed and irritated. Your first mistake was messing around with it before it was healed.
The fact that it's red, crusting and oozing does not mean infection. If the "ooze" you're talking about is white and dries a slight yellow color on the jewelry, that is not pus, it is a substance known as "lymph" which is nothing but dead skin cells and blood plasma. The presence of lymph basically tells you that your naval piercing is healing, but not done yet.
It can take a full year for a belly ring to heal. Having crust, ooze and redness is all part of the healing process.
If the oozing you're talking about is yellow / green, THAT would be pus, and THAT would be an infection.
You need to take care of it and stop playing with it. Soak it with saline soaks, not normal salt, if you make your own the salt has to be non-iodized sea salt, not regular table salt. Don't put alcohol, peroxide, or ointments such as Neosporin or Bacitracin on it. Don't clean it with anti-bacterial soap either. Straight sea salt soaks 2-3x per day. Don't touch the piercing with your hands, don't move it unless you're cleaning it, don't change the bar anymore.
